Poetry: #3

Gone from this earth but I’ll never forget
How bright you shined during your brief stay here.
In a world that is a sable blanket
You’re a shooting star with too few a year.

Budding with talent and brimming with hope,
Your future posed not a worry or threat.
Now it is a task just trying to cope
With the painful days your death has beset.

Perhaps you were filled with too much goodness
To live in a world plagued by corruption.
You stared down disease with strength and toughness
Teaching the world the meaning of gumption.

On the day you departed this world grew worse
And now I fear not my ride in a hearse.
