Poetry
An Avid fan of William Shakespeare, Deren has studied the sonnet form since his first days in college. Now, Deren has modernized the sonnet while frequently using the double entendre that appeared throughout the works of Shakespeare. Deren is nearing completion of a compilation of more than 100 sonnets and will soon release a collection of those works in paperback form. Here are some samples from Deren’s poetic collection.

I enjoy using the double entendre throughout much of my poetry. Various sonnets can be read from dual perspectives and imply more than one meaning. But as skilled as I can hope to be with my words, the heart and soul of poetry must come from within. After scripting a truly successful sonnet, I find myself drained from pouring so much emotion into every word. Not a single word in any of my sonnets is written by mere coincidence.
